Comparisons: Brawlers

Ryu

Easily one of the most recognizable characters to anyone who's played a fighting game, Ryu was made famous for his versatility, hard hitting moves, and Hadouken! He is in peak physical condition at all times and takes his training very seriously, as his ultimate goal is to master his fighting style. He has won multiple World martial arts tournaments, and in some of which he nearly killed his opponents. His favorite moves are a rising uppercut that can knock anyone on their ass, a hurricane kick, where he flys through the air spinning as he kicks anything in sight, and Hadouken! Where he shoots a low velocity ball of energy from his hands. This video's old, but shows all of his main fighting moves.

Now onto the little guy

Little Mac

Standing at 4'8", weighing in at 107 pounds, Little Mac is almost legally a little person! He is a fairly standard bboxer, using a normal stance and no crazy moves. What sets him apart is that he beat Mike Tyson and King Hippo, who is a big yello Hippo wearing a crown. Those two are enormous compared to this little guy, but he somehow pulled it off. He doesn't have any special moves, he's just really fast, really strong, and really, really short.

Comparison:
Both of these guys can take alot of punishment, but neither bring any actual protection for a battle with blades either. Against each other Little Mac has more punching power, and his small size and speed makes him a very evasive person. Ryu has the advantage of having a more balanced fighting style, able to jump, kick, and throw fireballs. Against each other, Little Mac would probably win, but overall, Ryu is better suited for a battle like this, so he gets a close edge.

Comparisons: Archers

Link

Link is somewhat of a sociopath in that he has never said one word of dialouge since 1986. He may be able to communicate telepathically though, because everyone he has a conversation with knows exactly what he's not talking about. Besides that, Link is a force to be rekoned with on any battlefield. He is more than proficient with his bow, able to fire accurately from horseback, but he is also very balanced in that he has a sword and shield for CQC. He has a steel shield and sword along with a normal wooden recurve bow and wooden arrows, to which he can attach bombs for explosive results. He has been known to carry a plethora of other devices with him, but these are his main weapons. Due to a lack of fighting in cutscenes, the video is of someone playing as Link, but it should showcase everything but his bowmanship, which is counterproductive, but the best I could find.

Skip to 3:40, unless you like out of context exposition

Now onto the best archer the world has ever seen:

Legolas

"31, 32, 33, 34, 35"- Legolas announcing his kill count during a battle
Legolas is the king of all archers. His skill at archery is unmatched by anyone. He can fire two arrows at a time accurately, in fact over the course of 10 hours of movie he never missed a shot, while simultaneously racking up a larger kill count than any two people. He can also fire arrows at about one per second, which is roughly equivalent to a minigun as far as archers are concerned. He is also extremely badass, often killing  things in ways that shouldn't be possible, such as riding a shield down a stone staircase while shooting and killing people. He carries a shortsword with him as well, but rarely uses it, as he has been known to fire arrows from point blank range. The video is of him showing up everyone on the battlefield, as usual.

It is of horrible quality, I know

Comparison:
Both of these guys are powerhouses on this battlefiend. Legolas is obviously the better archer, he is faster and more accurate on all levels. Link has the advantage of being balanced, not to mention more well equipped for this type of situation. He is much less vulnerable at close range than Legolas, and his bomb arrows allow him to cause potential mass casualties, as long as they don't see it coming. Link is also the only person on the battlefield with a shield, so he's one of the best as far as defense is concerned as well. All of this points at Link, but Legolas is simply too skilled at archery to not win. Unless he's taken out early, things could get ugly for Kratos' Team (I'm putting him and Baraka as leaders to make things easier.)

Comparisons: Straight Swordsmen

Raiden (MGS4)

"I just don't fear death"
Once a stealth-based super soldier not unlike Solid Snake, Raiden was subsequently turned into a Cyborg Ninja by the Patriots, which gave him extreme combat abilities with a blade. His reflexes were turned up to ridiculous levels and his athletic abilities are nearly unmatched. One of his most striking features is his pain threshhold, which gives him the ability to take an unbelievable amount of damage and still fight on full force. His blade is also no ordinary blade, but rather a high frequency blade used only by cyborg ninjas. This blade resonates at a high frequency, which increases its temperature and greatly increases cutting ability. The suit he wears gives him little protection, but it further enhances his abilities to levels that shouldn't be real. Many of his abilities can be viewed in this video:

Who could possibly compete with such an inhuman opponent?

Ryu Hayabusa

"My strength comes from my training, not from the curse in my blood"
Ryu Hayabusa is a young man in his early twenties at peak physical condition, but has the wisdom of someone who has lived through decades of hardship and disaster. He is part of the Hayabusa ninja clan, from which he earned his surname through years of training and excelling his peers. In combat he is a man of unstoppable will, and through his life he has become a cold, calculative killer. He wears the legendary Black Falcon's outfit, which offers him a good deal of stealth and some protection against light weapons. His sword is called the Dragon Sword because it was created from the fang of a dragon god, and is powered by the spirits of twelve dragons. The sword itself has excellent cutting ability, being able to cut a giant wolfman vertically with ease (you'll see in the video.)

1:20 he starts to actually do things

Comparison:
Ryu Hayabusa has been a Ninja since he was 6, which gives him alot of experience compared to the 5 years Raiden has. They both have extremely fast reflexes, but Ryu shockingly has the edge in that department even after the thousands of enhancements Raiden has. According to the video Ryu can also fly about as good as Batman, which is pretty good in it's own right. Raiden can work his sword extremely well though, and has the edge as far as cutting power goes. If both swords were to clash, I'm not sure what would happen, but I'd put money on the Dragon Sword being cut in half, which is a huge hinderance when he doesn't have the luxury of other weapons to fight with. Ryu does know martial arts backwards and front though, so he could certainly kick some ass in a fist fight, however Raiden's pain threshold stops me from believing that he has no chance in that situation. Overall, I'd say that Ryu Hayabusa has a close edge for his speed and experience, since the first hit will normally be the kill between these two.

I'll introduce everyone more formally when comparing them.

Intro

Because of the way this place is set up, I'll make a new blog for each large match like this, and make new posts incrementally. Good for that.

This match is what should probably be 6 totally separate matches, but there's no way to make a one-on-one simulation long without adding a bunch of exposition leading up to the fight (to which I don't have the patience for) so I figure having 12 people fight each other might make it a good size. The fun part about this particular match is that everyone is in catagories based on their fighting abilities and styles, so they can actually be compared side-by-side. I would put the teams on this post, but it doesn't seem right, so I'll put it on the one you've probably already been to considering the fact that newer posts appear before older ones and most of you will just click on the first one you see.
BTW if I leave this unupdated for awhile it's because I'm moving, so I'll try to get this done quickly before I lose internet for a week.
